Description:
Dr. Makkar’s life took a different trajectory when she lost her only and younger sibling, a Calgarian Dentist, Dr. Manu Dua, to Oral Cancer in March 2021. Since his death, she devotes her time educating doctors and patients alike about risk factors, prevention and advocating for early diagnosis of Oral cancer. This impactful webinar will discuss the journey of a dentist getting oral cancer and what we can all do to prevent stories like his.
Course Objectives
1. Understand oral cancer through a patient’s journey
2. Reflect on the writings of Dr. Manu Dua from the book “Life Interrupted, Dr. Dua’s Survival Guide”
3. Recognize the risk factors of oral cancer
4. Describe how the human papilloma virus is involved in oral cancer
5. Implement strategies to decrease oral cancer
