Dr. Talwar is a certified specialist in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and has a PhD in Biomedical Science. She received her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Toronto in 1990 and her Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio in 1994. After graduating from Dental School, Dr. Talwar completed a General Practice Residency program in Chicago at Loyola University Medical Center from 1994 to 1996. She then went on to a research fellowship at Parkland Hospital in Dallas Texas in trauma and graduated in 2004 from a combined Oral and Maxillofacial – PhD training program from the Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, Texas.
Dr. Talwar has taught at both undergraduate and graduate students in the Faculty of Dentistry and Discipline of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Kentucky (2004-2005), University of Toronto (2005-2010) and most recently as an Associate Clinical Professor in the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, Discipline of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Alberta. She recently built Contours Oral Surgery with the vision of having both a state of the art surgical center and a mentorship-based teaching facility. At Contours she is active in her role as a teacher, mentor, surgeon and peer, hosting the Edmonton Oral Surgery Study Club.
Her surgical focus is in the reconstruction and rehabilitation of the partial and fully edentulous patient.
